In the wake of lockdown observation across the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic, FSSAI has given a relief to FBOs regarding application for renewal of Expired or expiring food licenses or registrations, required to operate as a food business operator.
FSSAI has noted that many FBOs may generally take help of State Helpdesks, authorities or consultants to file the applications but due to the lockdown have not been able to access these helps.
Considering the situation, FSSAI gas given a grace period for the application process.
The FBOs whose license/registration has expired or is expiring during the period 22nd March 2020 to 31st May 2020 are given a grace period to apply for renewal of their license or registration till 30th June without any late fee. In the interim period the FSSAI licenses or registration shall be deemed to be valid.
Moreover, FSSAI has also given a grace period to the FBOs of UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh because from August 2019 till February 2020 the region has been witnessing interrupted internet services. In the light of that, FSSAI had allowed FBOs whose FSSAI license/registration expired or expiring since 1 August 2019 till restoration of internet services, to continue their food businesses with their existing license/registration number without any late fee.
Now, the internet services have resumed in the region and the FBOs were supposed to apply for the renewal of licenses or registrations. But, due to COVID19 pandemic still, FBOs are facing difficulty hence FSSAI has given FBOs of UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh whose license or registration expired during the period of August 1, 2019, and May 31, 2020, a grace period to apply for the renewal of license or registration till 30th June 2020 without any late fee. In the interim period licenses/registration shall be deemed to be valid.
