FSSAI extended the import period for Food for Special Medical Purposes(i.e. Food for Inborn errors of metabolism and hypoallergenic conditions) for a further period of six months from 2nd May 2020 to till 1st November 2020 or till their standards are identified, whichever is earlier.
FSSAI is working on laying down the standards for this category to facilitate proper import guidance.
In the light of this food category being sensitive and seeing its impact on the consumer of this food category till now FSSAI has kept restriction that the import of such products shall continue to be permitted through Delhi and Mumbai ports only.
