Instances of adulterated spices in domestic market have been reported by media. Specific standards for different type of whole and ground spices have been prescribed under the regulation and any deviation from the prescribed parameter are violation of the provisions of FSS Act, 2006.
In view of the above, it is requested to conduct an effective enforcement drive to check the adulteration of commonly used spices. Necessary actions may be initiated against the defaulting FBO under the FSS Act.
