FSSAI has revised the guidelines for submission of applications for endorsement of vegan logo and formats.
This revision has been made in the Food safety and standards (Vegan Foods) Regulations, 2022 which was notified on 10th June 2022 and published in the Gazette on 25th July 2022.
The new guidance document supersedes the previously notified guidelines dated 25th July 2022.
Apart from the Annexures A, B and C, it also includes Annexure D i.e., Proforma for Self Declaration.
The revised guidelines include:
- Annexure A: Guidelines for submission of applications for endorsement of vegan logo.
- Annexure B: Application for endorsement under FSS (Vegan Foods) Regulations, 2022 (Form A)
- Annexure C: Approval/ rejection for endorsement of vegan logo (Form B)
- Annexure D i.e., Proforma for Self Declaration

Other important highlights of this update are as given below:
- Application fees for vegan logo endorsement has been increased 5x the previous fees i.e. ₹ 25 thousand (excluding GST).
- The fees can be paid through online e-payment portal (https://epay.fssai.gov.in/fps/loadindex)
- Separate application for each variant/product needs to be submitted for vegan logo endorsement. [Ex: Flavoured plant based drink in 4 different flavours (Chocolate Flavor, strawberry Flavor, orange Flavor etc.) will need 4 different applications for vegan logo endorsement.]
