FSSAI allowed the sale of Hemp seeds and seed products on the E-commerce portal.
FSSAI issued a clarification on 10th November 2022 regarding the sale of Hemp seeds and seed products (Hemp seed, Oil extracted from hemp seeds, Hemp seed flour) on e-commerce websites.
FSSAI in its clarification has noted that based on an order issued by FSSAI in 2017 regarding the illegal manufacture/import/sale of the products made from Hemp and Hemp seeds, the E-commerce FBOs are not allowing the listing of such products on their web portals.
Now, FSSAI has advised all the E-commerce FBOs that Hemp seeds and seed products are standardized under FSSR and such products are allowed on the E-commerce website also.
However, the same clause is subject to the fact that the FBO shall hold a valid FSSAI license and compliance with the parameters of the hemp standard specified in the FSSR.
