FBOs were facing legal action by State Food Authorities due to variance in the clause related to Fortified Atta, Fortified Maida, Iodized Salt and Iron Fortified Iodized Salt in the FSSR ( Food Products Standard and Food Additives) 2011 and Safety and FSSR (Fortification of Foods) 2018.
FSSAI was working towards omitting this variance but due to prolonged situation of pandemic COVID 19 it has now decided to operationalize FSSR (Fortification of Foods) 2018 Clause so that FBOs no longer face any legal issues with immediate effect till the final issuance of any notification in this regard.
