Food Business Operators (FBO) have got extension by FSSAI for the licenses issued under the proprietary category for complementary foods for infants and young children.
Earlier, FSSAI had issued a notice in October 2019 to stop the issuance of the license for formulated supplements for children of age above 24 months and till 36 months under Proprietary category.
This step has been taken considering the sensitive target consumer group of the product.
The Food Business Operators who already have licenses for the said category under Proprietary Food are advised to get their existing license modified accordingly as early as possible, however, before the renewal of the existing licenses.
FBOs had given representation to FSSAI for more transition time as a modification would also require reformulation of the product. Also, the industry has expressed concern over the available inventory.
Considering the above, the Food Business Operators are given extension till June 30, 2020, for the modification of the licenses.
